The CD-ROM Setup disk contains the Apple CD-ROM software upgrade, version 3.2, required to run an AppleCD SC Plus® CD-ROM drive with a Macintosh® computer using System 6.0.5, 6.0.7 or 7.0. The software supports HFS, ISO 9660, and High Sierra file formats and lets you play audio CDs using the CD Remote desk accessory.
To install the CD-ROM software, double-click the Installer icon on this disk.
Problems with Using Installer under Low Memory configurations:
With a 2 Meg RAM configuration on System 7.0 or 1 Meg RAM configuration on System 6.0.x may have problem with using Installer due to low memory condition. You may install CD-ROM Setup 3.2 Software by dragging all the files in the CD-ROM Software folder into your System Folder and reboot your system. It is recommended to remove extra INITs from your system folder under any low memory configurations before installing the Apple CD-ROM software.
Problems with Duplicate Files:
Problems can arise on system 7 if Foreign File Access is located in both the System Folder and the Extensions folder. If you have problems mounting CD-ROM discs on the desktop or using the Chooser after installing the CD-ROM software, check to make sure that Foreign File Access is located in the Extensions folder and remove any extra copies from the System Folder. Using the Installer will prevent this situation from occurring.
If You Use Macintosh File Sharing:
CD-ROM discs can be shared using Macintosh file sharing under System 7.0. Any CD-ROM discs which are mounted when file sharing is started will automatically be shared. However, shared CD-ROM discs can't be ejected while file sharing is on. To change a CD in this situation, first, stop file sharing using the Sharing Setup control panel, then eject the CD-ROM disc and insert another if needed. File sharing may now be restarted and the new CD-ROM disc will be shared.
